Job advertisement: Japan on the Jesuit Stage

The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Neo-Latin Studies (LBI–NL) in Innsbruck is a research institute, which investigates the significance of Neo-Latin literature with regard to the development of early modern Europe. For a joint project financed by the Austrian Science Foundation (FWF) and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) on 'Japan on the Jesuit Stage' we seek to appoint

 

1 predoc research fellow (for 24 months)

Responsibilities:

- Edition of the drama Sanctus Franciscus Xaverius Indiae et Iaponiae apostolus

- Organization of an international conference on the topic of Japan on the Jesuit Stage

 

Requirements:

- MA or equivalent degree

- Focus on Neo-Latin research for the duration of the appointment

 

Preference will be given to candidates who offer:

- experience with Neo-Latin research, esp. Jesuit theater

 

The successful candidate will be based at the LBI-NL in Innsbruck. A short research trip to Japan will be part of the job. According to the guidelines of the FWF, the monthly salary will be € 2.045,10 gross.
