Neo-Latin Goes Albania

Following an official invitation of the Austrian Embassy in Albania and the Austria Library (Österreich-Bibliothek) at Shkodra, Stefan Zathammer presented his book „Marinus Barletius, De obsidione Scodreni“ (published with Holzahusen Vienna in 2017, cf. http://buch.verlagholzhausen.at/) at the university library of Shkodra on April 18, 2018.

His execellency, the honorary consul Gjergi Leqejza, was pleased by the presence of several journalists. Zathammer and Florian Schaffenrath, one of the editors of the series Die neulateinische Bibliothek, in which the book had appeared, gave interviews also to local broadcasting stations. A special moment of the event was it, when Stefan Zathammer presented his book on Barletius to Gjovalin Cuni, director of the Biblioteka Publike Marin Barleti of Shkodra.

On the following day, Zathammer and Schaffenrath were invited guest speakers at the Forum Humanities, an open discussion format at the history departement of Tirana University. In front of an enourmos audience, they answered the questions of Dr. Gentiana Kera, the organiser of the Forum, on Albanian humanism in general and Marinus Barletius especially. During the following open discussion the audience was especially interested in new Neo-Latin projects concerning Albanina. Admira Poçi, the responsible representative of the Austrian Embassy, was very happy with this event, embedded in to the Austria-Albanian culturul year 2018 „Gemeinsames neu entdecken (cf. https://www.bmeia.gv.at/), obove all because of the high number of participants.
