Ingrid De Smet


Ingrid De Smet is a Professor of French and Neo-Latin Studies in the School of Modern Languages & Cultures (University of Warwick). Her current research centres on (i) Renaissance Scholars and their Books: Confessional Turmoil and Fragmented Libraries and (ii) Outwitting Nature: Humans, Nature and Technology (Neo-Latin vs. the vernacular, ancient wisdom vs. new discoveries). At the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute, Ingrid is working on a book project on locks, keys, and seals as instruments of secrecy (and more) in Early Modern France and beyond – from object to metaphor.
