research fellow

Before Patryk came to Innsbruck, he studied at the Jagiellonian University Cracow and obtained master’s degree in law (2013) and classics (2014); he also was an exchange student at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg in Breisgau (2013–2014). Thereafter he prepared and defended (2018) his PhD thesis: Das mittellateinische Epyllion. Studien zur Kleinform der epischen Dichtung im Mittelalter at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. During his PhD studies he has started to investigate the reception of the biblical story of Susanna, chaste wife of Joachim, in the Middle and New Latin epyllions. As a Research Fellow at Boltzmann Institute he pursues this subject and focuses on the early modern poems devoted to Susanna (16th–17th century). His particular interest lies in the miniature poem found in the manuscript from Cracow, Paraphrasis historiae de Susanna by Adamus Placotomus Silesius which he intends to prepare for an edition with a contextualisation study.
