Rita Bennardello
Rita Bennardello studied Modern humanities (BA) and Modern Philology (MA) at the University of Rome La Sapienza, before starting her PhD at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio in 2021.
Her research project aims to realize the critical and annotated edition of Giovanni Pico della Mirandola’s Carmina, accompanied by an introduction that reconstructs the times of composition of the poems and analyzes themes and tòpoi mainly used by the author.
Her research interests are directed especially to both latin and vernacular poetry of the Medieval and Renaissance period: for her BA she realized the critical and annotated edition of a small collection of twelve sonnets written by Mariotto Davanzati, a poet active in Florence in the first half of the Fifteenth Century. This work is about to be published in the next issue of «Interpres».
In 2021 she won a self-employment contract (2 months) at the University of Rome La Sapienza to realize a new census of the manuscript witnesses of Basinio da Parma’s Liber Isottaeus and start the collations of the available ones. The first results of this research were presented during the Basinio Conference organized by the LBI for Neo-Latin studies in May 2022 in Rimini.
Currently she is a visiting student at the LBI for Neo-Latin studies (March-May 2023): in this period, she is working on her PhD thesis and she is preparing a paper for the conference Rinascimento letterario. La ricerca dei giovani studiosi that will take place in Naples (Accademia Pontaniana) on 4-5 May 2023.
